It's a new year and a new decade - let's get down to business!
One of our main goals for 2020 is to reduce paper waste within our office.

You may already be aware that we are based in Nottingham, which has announced its plan to be carbon-neutral by 2028. This has led us to consider our own contributions.

As it stands, we still send out a lot of printed policy wordings where we would prefer to send them digitally for brokers who are able to accept them this way. They are also readily available to download from the Vasek website, so we feel this is something we could massively cut down on.

If you would like to join our movement to improve our carbon footprint, please send us an email requesting your branch to only receive documents digitally. You just need to let us know a generic email address for your branch so that we can record this change.

Our focus is also on the winter weather at this time of year. The drop in temperature could lead to a spike in Unoccupied Property Insurance claims due to escape of water, caused by issues such as frozen pipes. 

Our Heating Clause exists to protect the property insured by requiring the following:
 
i) where the entire premises has the benefit of a gas or oil fired central heating system fitted with automatic controls and a separate thermostat, the system must be set to operate continuously (not timed) for 24 hours each day at not less than 12 degrees Celsius or 54 degrees Fahrenheit
or
ii) all water supplies to be turned off at the mains and the entire water system be drained of all the water. 

You must also ensure that during November, December and January the hatch to the loft area of the premises (where there is one installed) is propped open by at least twelve inches or thirty centimetres.
 
We require policyholders to inspect the property once every 14 days but more frequent inspections will also help.

We will be looking at all reviews left for us on Google during December 2019 and January 2020 and choosing one at random as the winner. We have yet to receive any during this time period, so if you do enter the odds of winning look pretty good!
